About Jack

John P. "Jack" Moretti, Jr. has dedicated his life to service, community, and the betterment of New York state. Born on September 14, 1958, in Lackawanna, Jack's roots in the area run deep, as he has resided at 30 Palm Street, Lackawanna, his entire life, a home built by his grandfather, symbolizing generations of commitment to the local community.

After graduating from Lackawanna High School in 1976, Jack pursued his passion for construction technology, earning an Associates in Applied Science from Erie Community College in 1978. He furthered his education at the University of Southern California before returning to New York to obtain a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Architecture from SUNY at Buffalo in 1982. Jack's diverse interests led him to briefly study at Capital University Law School in 1982-83, showcasing his lifelong dedication to learning and growth.

In 1984, Jack embarked on a distinguished career with the New York State Police, serving with honor and integrity until his retirement in December 2018, accumulating an impressive 34 years and 10 months of service to the people of New York.

Jack's commitment to family is equally remarkable. Since 1989, he has been married to Mary Beth (Bradley) Moretti, a partnership that has endured and flourished over 34 years. Together, they are the proud parents of two accomplished children. Their eldest, John P. Moretti III, followed in his father's footsteps, graduating from Canisius University with both a Bachelor's and MBA degree before joining the New York State Police in 2019. Their youngest, Mario J. Moretti, also a graduate of Canisius University, has embarked on his own path of success.

Beyond his professional and familial commitments, Jack has actively contributed to his community. He served as a dedicated coach for Southtowns Hockey for 17 years, shaping the lives of young athletes with his leadership and mentorship. Additionally, he volunteered as an assistant hockey coach at St. Francis High School for four years, further demonstrating his passion for youth development and sportsmanship.

Moreover, Jack has been a steadfast peer contact for The Western NY Law Enforcement Helpline since its inception 20 years ago, providing crucial support and guidance to his fellow law enforcement officers during challenging times. He has also generously volunteered his time for Special Olympics, embodying the spirit of compassion and inclusion.

In addition to his remarkable service in law enforcement and community involvement, Jack's dedication to advocating for his fellow officers led him to take an active role in police labor union activities. He served as Troop 'A' Delegate, Trooper Unit President, and Secretary of the NYST-PBA Executive Committee, among other positions, during his remarkable 18-year tenure on the board of the PBA of the New York State Troopers. Under his leadership, New York State Troopers achieved historic advancements, transitioning from the lowest-paid to the highest-paid troopers in the country.

Jack Moretti's candidacy for New York State Senate is a natural extension of his lifelong commitment to service and community. With a wealth of experience, integrity, and dedication, Jack is ready to represent the people of New York and advocate for their needs in the state legislature.
